Liz McLaughlin is a multimedia journalist with a passion for working both behind and in front of the camera. She shoots, writes, edits, reports and enterprises compelling broadcast news stories.
From virtual reality to remote election coverage, Liz produces engaging multimedia content on a deadline. Her work as a reporter, photographer and producer has featured on many major media outlets and distributed internationally.
Liz is a reporter for Carolina Week, providing weekly video contributions to the award-winning show. She is a contributor to Reesenews, the Student Free Press Association and Carolina Connection radio and a section editor for the online magazine New Student Union, which will launch mid-2011.
As an intern for NBC News in New York City in 2009, Liz was able to work in the fast paced world of network television in a variety of departments to gain a diverse experience. In the breaking news and special events department, Liz operated chyrons curing NBC Specials, worked on projects including the presidential inauguration and the Inside the Obama White House Special with Brian Williams. Liz went on to intern for ABC 11 Eyewitness News in Durham, NC, where she investigated stories that were picked up locally and nationally. Liz was awarded the ABC/ Walt Disney scholarship in 2010.
Originally from Roanoke, Virginia, Liz is currently a senior at the University of North Carolina available for full time employment in May 2011. When she doesn’t have a tripod on her back, she has a Droid in her pocket eager to take on new roles as a journalist.
